Cara mengganti permission Linux menggunakan chmod dan chown

chmod 777The reason 777 is bad is because other gives permissions to anyone who has access to your computer: for example, if you're hacked, the hackerI'm trying to change the permissions of temp_dir to 777. Why are these commands not accomplishing that? I'm using Linux by the way.
